early childhood educator union WINS HISTORIC PAY RISE
15% Pay Rise From the Union Agreement
The new Sector-Wide Agreement offers a government-funded 15% pay increase for Early Educators across Australia! The first 10% has already been given in 2024, with 5% more to come in December 2025.
The fastest, simplest, and most dependable way to secure the first 15% government-funded pay increase is by making sure your employer signs the Union-Approved Agreement!
This pay rise is a life-changing opportunity for thousands of early educators to get the pay and respect they deserve!
So long as your employer signs the agreement before the 30th of September, you’ll be able to claim ~$3,000 in Back Pay based on your level of experience as part of the 15% government-funded wage increase. Don’t miss this incredible opportunity!
8% MORE TO COME FROM GENDER UNDERVALUATION CASE WIN
The Fair Work Commission has officially locked in wage increases of up to 23% for Early Childhood Educators across Australia! This means an Additional 8% Pay Rise alongside the already available Sector-Wide Agreement!
After decades of advocacy, UWU members have successfully proven what we’ve always known: early childhood educators have been systematically undervalued and underpaid due to gender-based inequality in our workforce.
The Commission Has Proposed:
- Phasing in pay increases over 5 YEARS
- The first 5% increase starting August 2025
- New classification structure with varying increase amounts (e.g., Level 3.1 would become Level 3 with a 23% increase)
We’re committed to making this pay increase available as soon as possible! Well done to the over 500 Early Educators who have had their say on Fair Work’s proposed timeline for the gender undervaluation wage increase timeline, and classification changes. We wrote to the Commission, passing on your feedback, including your overwhelming response that Educators cannot wait 5 years for this pay rise!
3.5% INCREASE COMING TO THE MINIMUM AWARD RATE
Today’s announcement of an award-based wage increase means a mid-year wage rise for most Educators. With a 15% pay rise locked in, there is 3.5% more to come on July 1st for the vast majority of Educators.
By December, a Cert III Educator on the Children’s Services Award receiving the 15% pay rise can expect to be about $11,000 a year better off than they were last year.
