MEDIA ALERT

WHEN: 12 pm Wednesday 27 April 2022

WHERE: Danila Dilba Health Services, Corner of Woods and Knuckey Street, Darwin

WHAT: Essential workers in Darwin are taking action in an effort to secure better wages and conditions. Workers will be rallying outside the Danila Dilba Health Services as part of their protected industrial action.

WHO: United Workers Union Northern Territory Secretary Erina Early and Danila Dilba workers.

Quotes attributable to Erina Early, United Workers Union Northern Territory Secretary:

“Essential workers are taking action in an effort to secure better wages and conditions.

“The cost of living is skyrocketing, fuel prices are becoming prohibitive, and the bosses’ response has been no wage increase since 2020.

“Workers are furious that they have been on the frontline during the COVID pandemic but are now being disrespected and undervalued by Danila Dilba.

“It’s unacceptable to see workers that have kept the Territory safe through the pandemic being offered a wage increase which does little to address the wage increases they’ve been missing out on from 2020.”
