{"id":37251,"date":"2022-01-31T19:05:18","date_gmt":"2022-01-31T08:05:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/development.uwu.org.au\/staging\/?p=37251"},"modified":"2025-07-28T16:08:15","modified_gmt":"2025-07-28T06:08:15","slug":"aged-care-worker-bonus-statement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/development.uwu.org.au\/staging\/archive\/aged-care-worker-bonus-statement\/","title":{"rendered":"AGED CARE WORKER BONUS STATEMENT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Statement attributable to United Workers Union Aged Care director Carolyn Smith:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday\u2019s announcement of two financial bonuses for aged care workers is a welcome relief for the people who have cared for our older Australians during the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn particular, the union is pleased that the bonus has been extended to include all aged care workers, including catering and cleaning staff, as well as care workers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe aged care industry is at absolute breaking point, and I am not sure these bonuses will fix the systemic issues in the industry<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAged care workers are struggling with low pay, understaffing and the poor rollout of COVID-19 response by Scott Morrison.
